Yann Tiersen & Neil Hannon - Life on Mars [1999]

Yann Tiersen, polistrumentista francese che sa trarre suoni da piano, fisarmonica, violino, è cresciuto con la musica classica prima e il rock dopo, passando attraverso le musiche da film per cortometraggi. La collaborazione è il suo veicolo di contaminazione dei suoni e delle atmosfrere, ha suonato con Lisa Germano, Elisabeth Frazer dei Cocteau Twins.
Neil Hannon, irlandese introverso, deus ex machina di Divine Comedy, ricompreso a ragione tra le fila dei grandi eccentrici del pop d'Oltre Manica, è artefice da quindici anni di sognanti e maestosi album di puro pop: composizioni e melodie senza tempo, arrangiamenti preziosi.
Insieme riprendono in tono minimale un must del repertorio di David Bowie.
